Be a Hero for the American Red Cross

Be a Hero for the American Red Cross in Monroe or Owen Counties

We will soon be launching our 4th annual Heroes for the American Red Cross fundraising campaign. We see heroes of all kinds at the Red Cross:  we encounter lifesaving heroes who have used their Red Cross skills to rescue others during life-threatening situations, or donate life-giving blood to others with critical medical needs.  Our other heroes are financial donors who provide the monetary means or valued volunteer hours so we can help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters, such as the flooding we encountered in Monroe and Owen Counties in June 2008 or the recent earthquakes in Haiti.

An American Red Cross Hero is anyone who pledges to give to raise $1,000 or more to help the Monroe County chapter provide disaster relief and services to armed forces for our residents.  Any individual, group, or business can become a Hero. The campaign will kick-off on March 3 and end on April 27.  During that time period our Heroes campaign chairs, IU Head Football Coach Bill Lynch and his wife Linda, and the Heroes committee will be asking Heroes (community groups, individuals, businesses, schools, and restaurants) to raise our campaign goal of $75,000 to help support the critical services the Red Cross provides to the community.  If you’d like to help, contact Sue Gulley at 332-7292, or email her at suegulley@monroe-redcross.org.
