Red Cross Summer Book Drive Underway

During your spring and summer cleaning this year, don’t forget that every weekday between 8:30am-5pm the Monroe County American Red Cross accepts donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, video tapes, LPs, cassette tapes, maps, sheet music, games, and puzzles for their annual fall book fair. This year’s summer Book Drive will be held on Saturday, July 17 from 9am-noon. Community members may drop off all book and media donations at the Red Cross office, 411 E. 7th St. The Red Cross has volunteers who will help you unload your vehicle and will provide you with a receipt for tax purposes. Proceeds from this year’s September 30-October 5 book fair will support local disaster relief, service to military families, and emergency preparedness programs. By donating your unwanted books and media to the Red Cross, you’ll be clearing your house of clutter AND helping the Red Cross provide humanitarian services here in Monroe and Owen Counties.
