Red Cross volunteers continue to provide emergency assistance to families affected by flooding in central and southern Indiana.

American Red Cross Disaster Response Update - June 17, 2008

People needing Red Cross disaster assistance should call 1-866-GET-INFO to receive Red Cross shelter and service center locations, and other vital information.

AMERICAN RED CROSS SERVICE DELIVERY SITES:

Red Cross caseworkers continue to work with families to verify their specific disaster-caused needs and provide emergency assistance.

The following locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.

  • Bartholomew County: Northside Middle School, 1400 27th St., Columbus, IN
  • Johnson County: Johnson Center for Fine Arts, Franklin College, 101 Branigan Blvd. Franklin, IN
  • Knox County: Robert E. Green Activity Center, Vincennes University, 1st & Harrison St. Vincennes, IN (NEW SITE)
  • Morgan County: Poston Road Elementary, 139 E. Poston Rd., Martinsville, IN
  • Owen County: Spencer Elementary, 151 E Hillside Ave, Spencer, IN
  • Vigo County: Booker T. Washington Community Center, 1101 S. 13th St., Terre Haute, IN
    (NOTE: The West Vigo Community Center service delivery center has consolidated with this facility.)

The following location will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.

  • Jackson County – Medora Conservation Club, 7709 W. 650 S., Medora, IN
  • People seeking Red Cross assistance need to bring a valid photo ID and proof of residence with them.

AMERICAN RED CROSS SHELTERS OPEN:

Red Cross volunteers continue to care for flood-affected residents at the following facilities:

  • Bartholomew County: Northside Middle School, 1400 27th St., Columbus, IN
  • Morgan County: Martinsville High School, 1360 E. Gray St., Martinsville, IN
  • Vigo County: Terre Haute North High School, 3434 Maple Ave, Terre Haute, IN

The American Red Cross also has Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVS) providing mobile feeding in the affected counties. Red Cross outreach teams are also going door to door to talk to residents to identify unmet emergency needs.
