Disaster Services
Each year the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross responds immediately to 30-40 disasters, the majority of which consist of house and apartment fires. Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people's immediate emergency disaster needs. When a disaster threatens or strikes, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and health and mental health services to address basic human needs.

For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health and safety education and training. From first aid, CPR and blood borne pathogens training, to swimming, lifeguarding, and babysitting training, American Red Cross programs help people lead safer and healthier lives.

Blood Services
We all expect blood to be available when we need it, but barely a fraction of those who can donate blood actually do. However, sooner or later virtually all of us will face a time of great vulnerability in which we will need blood. All too often that time comes unexpectedly. Military Services
The Red Cross delivers urgent messages about births, deaths, serious illness, and other family emergencies to service men and women deployed anywhere in the world, usually within 24 hours. The Red Cross can also delivers messages confirming the welfare of loved ones to families and to service men and women who may have become worried by a sudden break in regular communication.

The American Red Cross is able to accomplish its mission by working within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network. This network consists of more than 180 Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies and more than 100 million volunteers.

Lifeline Program
The Monroe County Chapter offers the Lifeline Service to residents of Monroe, Owen and surrounding counties, enabling individuals who are at risk to live independently in their own home. This personal emergency response system immediately puts the customer in touch with help, gives family members peace of mind, and assures prompt assistance is close at hand.
